David DeAngelo (AKA Eben Pagan) is considered one of the elite in the pick up artist industry in terms of popularity and is well know for the marketing of his products. After starting out as a real estate agent, he studied both business and dating before founding his company "Double Your Dating" in 2001. Double Your Dating pioneered the use of the eBook in disseminating pick up artist techniques and materials starting when he published his "Double Your Dating E-Book" which was based upon a posting of his on "Cliff's List," then a popular source in the online PUA community.
David DeAngelo started out as a student of Ross Jeffries in the late 90s going by the name "Sisonpyh" ("hypnosis" spelled backward) before seeking knowledge from other figures in the pick-up artist community such as Hypnotica (Eric Von Sydow), Dave Ricker, and Steve Piccus. After going out on his own, his company grew rapidly up to the point where he was employing more than 80 people in his global operation. While his core business was in the pick up artist and seduction communities, he also engages in business and educational consulting. He recently got married in 2011 and no longer runs or develops new seminars and products for Double Your Dating.
While David DeAngelo is mostly known for his eBook "Double Your Dating," he has developed several other products which include Interviews with Dating Gurus where he interviews various other dating coaches, as well as programs on advanced dating techniques and triggering sexual attraction. Many of the concepts David DeAngelo developed turned into fairly simple and marketable phrases that are still used by pick up artists even while some of those concepts have fallen out of favor as techniques in the most current theories of dating science. Nonetheless, as one of the first popularizers of dating science after Ross Jeffries, he remains an influential figure in the history of PUA techniques.
Some of the most common phrases and concepts of David DeAngelo include: "Attraction is not a choice."
Perhaps one of the first verbalizations of a theory of attraction, this concept was one of the first "arguments" against the stereotypically male-centered habit of thinking that women could be logically convinced into being attracted to them. Drawing from the rise of evolutionary psychology, this helped bring about greater awareness that attraction is an emotional process that must be triggered through explicitly non-rational or even irrational techniques and behavior on the part of the male seducer.
This theory sought to clarify and express the insight that women are attracted most of all to a presentation of confidence combined a certain sense of humor that conveys strength and value rather than insecurity and supplication. A man must convey these attributes, which can overcome most other factors such as physical appearance and material possessions.
"You cannot convince a woman to like you."
Similar to the first phrases, this emphasizes that arguing with a woman's rational mind is not the primary way to trigger attraction.''
